1. REGULATIONS


X Moscow international competition of young musicians «Magic lyre» is held in the framework of the Moscow international music festival «We are for Peace!», dedicated to the 75th anniversary of victory in the great Patriotic war.

 

In the Decree of the RF Government of 24 November 2015, «On the development of concert activities in the field of classical music in the Russian Federation for the period till 2025», in particular, emphasized the necessity of formation and development needs of the population in the introduction to classical music; the adoption of measures to promote and support the activities of Amateur art collectives (choirs, vocal and instrumental ensembles, chamber, brass, folk and Symphony orchestras), as well as conduct reviews and competitions in these collectives; invitations of art and culture figures promoting symphonic, classical music, as members of the jury of competitions, reviews of artistic orientation. In response to this Decree, the program « MOSCOW CHILDREN SING » launched a new project «Academic music-the heritage of world musical culture», within which the Moscow international competition of young musicians «Magic lyre» is held.


The Moscow international contest of young musicians «Magic lyre» is dedicated to the memorable dates of the world musical culture (see Appendix 1).


The competition is aimed at the formation of an open cultural educational space, the development of a public musical and aesthetic environment of communication and exchange of experience between students (children, adolescents, youth), and between teachers.


The contest «Magic lyre» helps to broaden the horizons of the younger generation, a deep understanding of the wonderful world of musical art in all its diversity by pupils of educational organizations.

 


 

2. Objectives and goals

 

OBJECTIVE OF COMPETITION:

 

* formation of an open and public educational musical and aesthetic educational environment, integration of classical traditions of music education and new promising trends in the art of music and music pedagogy.

 

COMPETITION GOALS:

 

* promotion of academic music among children and youth;

 

* the use of the socio-cultural potential of Moscow for the benefit of the artistic education, aesthetic and spiritual development of young Muscovites;

 

* education and development of the child's personality on the basis of musical art, formation of cognitive interests;

 

* creation of conditions for creative self-realization of young musicians-performers and their social adaptation in the sphere of culture;

 

* establishment of close creative ties between educational institutions, exchange of performing and pedagogical experience, as well as experience of experimental work in the environment of musically oriented children and adults’ community (expansion of the pedagogical repertoire, identification of new trends in the composer's work and in music pedagogy);

 

* activation of young musicians’ interest in performing and composing;

 

* education of patriotism and interest in the national traditions of artistic culture (musical, literary, visual);

 

* identification of gifted students among pupils of educational institutions in order to further support and develop their talents. 

 

 

 

3. The organizing Committee

 

The founder of the competition is the Moscow Department of Education and Science.


The direct organizer of the competition is the Center for Creative Development and Musical and Aesthetic Education of Children and Youth “Radost”, the leading institution of the Russian capital in the field of musical and aesthetic education of youth, the operator of the Moscow Department of Education and Science for organizing mass creative events, operator of the Department of Education and Science of the city of Moscow for the implementation of the city’s comprehensive targeted youth education program “Moscow Children Sing”.

 

 

 

4. Participant of competition

 

Students of educational organizations, regardless of their departmental affiliation, as well as amateurs of musical performance, who are not studying in any educational institutions, can take part in the X Moscow international competition of young musicians «Magic lyre».


Separate auditions are held for students of educational institutions of the Department of education and science of the city of Moscow, pupils of the institutions of the Department of culture of Moscow, as well as amateurs.


The age of participants - from 7 to 21 years in the performance categories, from 7 years to 28 years-in the nomination «Composer's creativity».

I age category-7-8 years,

 

II age category-9-10 years,

 

III age category-11-12 years,

 

IV age category-13-15 years,

 

V age category-16-21 year.

 

Ensembles can have mixed compositions, uniting participants of different ages.

 

 

For nominations «Organ», «Vocal folk performance»:

 

I age category-7-10 years,

 

II age category-11-12 years,

 

III age category-13-15 years,

 

IV age category-16-21 years.

Folklore ensembles can have mixed compositions, uniting participants of different ages. Ensembles can number from 2 to 12 participants.

 

 

For the nomination «Composer's creativity»:

 

I age category-7-9 years,

 

II age category-10-11 years,

 

III age category-12-13 years,

 

IV age category-14-15 years,

 

V age category-16-18 years,

 

VI age category-19-28 years.

 

 

 

7. Requirements for the competition program

 

For all nominations, except for the nomination «Organ», the choice of works, the content of which corresponds to the theme of the Moscow international music festival «We are for Peace!» dedicated to the 75th anniversary of victory in the great Patriotic war. Among such works are plays whose imagery and mood reflect the spirit of wartime, they relate to modern aspects of the problems of war and peace, broadcast the memory of the war, tell about the significance of the great Victory for the world community. Also among the recommended - works dedicated to other significant events in world history, Days of military glory, writings about peace, friendship, happy childhood, etc.


The inclusion of works by composers - anniversaries of the 2019-2020 academic year in the competition program is also welcome (see Appendix 1).

 

 

PIANO, SYNTHESIZER, WOODWINDS, BRASS INSTRUMENTS, PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS, STRING AND BOW INSTRUMENTS, HARP

 

Soloists (for all age categories):

 

* perform two diverse works of the academic musical tradition:

 

a) a work of Russian or foreign classics,

 

b) the work corresponding to the theme of the festival "We are for Peace!".

Two parts of a large-form work can be counted as two works.

 

Ensembles (for all age categories):

 

• one work of Russian or foreign classics or an essay corresponding to the theme of the festival «We are for Peace!».

 

Ensembles can number from 2 to 18 participants. The ensemble may include teachers-no more than 20% of the number of participants (only as illustrators).

 

Attention! The program of the ensemble performance in the nomination «Piano» may include works for only one piano.

 

Organ

 

Soloists:

 

For I age category:

 

* the work of a Western European or domestic composer of the XVI-XX centuries (or part of it).

 

For II age category:

 

* the work of the Western European composer of the XVI-XVIII centuries (or part of it),

 

* the work of a domestic or Western European composer of the XIX – first half of the XX century (or part of it).

 

For the III age category:

 

* the work of J. S. Bach (or part of it),

 

* the work of a domestic or Western European composer of the XIX - first half of the XX century (or part of it).

 

For IV age category:

 

* the work of the Western European composer of the XVI-XVIII centuries,

 

* the work of J. S. Bach (or part of it),

 

* the work of a domestic or Western European composer of the XIX - first half of the XX century (or part of it).

 

Ensembles (for all age categories):

 

• one work of the participants ' choice

 

 

FOLK STRING INSTRUMENTS, FOLK WIND INSTRUMENTS, GUITAR, ACCORDION AND ACCORDION

Soloists (for all age categories):

 

* perform two different works:

 

a) a work of the participant's choice;

 

b) the work corresponding to the theme of the festival «We are for Peace!».

 

Ensembles (for all age categories):

 

• one work at the choice of participants; performance of the composition corresponding to the theme of the festival «We are for Peace!».

 

Ensembles can number from 2 to 18 participants. The ensemble may include teachers-no more than 20% of the number of participants (only as illustrators).

 

 

VOCAL PERFORMANCE

 

Soloists, ensembles (for all age categories):

 

* perform two songs of different genres.

 

a) a song of the participant's choice;

 

b) the song corresponding to the theme of the festival «We are for Peace!».

 

 

Soloists, ensembles of I age category:

 

* both works can be performed with accompaniment.

 

 

Soloists, ensembles of II-IV age categories:

 

* one a’cappella song is mandatory.

 

The performance of a lyrical or ritual song with elements of variation, as well as the performance of a song with movement, is welcomed.

 

The program of the competitive performance can also include folk games, poetic folklore, fragments of folk rituals and holidays, household dances (round dance, quadrille, dance, etc.).

 

 

THE COMPOSING WORK

 

Each participant presents two author's works in any genre. One composition should correspond to the theme of the festival «We are for Peace!».

 

Works are provided in two copies (in manuscript or printed form), neatly done.

 

Participation of the contestant in the performance of his own composition is mandatory. If the works are written for an instrument that the contestant does not own, it is possible to attract other performers. If the performance requires too many participants (choir, orchestra), an audio or video recording of the contest composition may be submitted to the competition.

 

 

FAMILY

 

Each ensemble performs one piece corresponding to the theme of the festival «We are for Peace!».

 

The composition of the ensemble members is not regulated.

 

The use of phonograms is not allowed.

 

It is not allowed to change the program on the day of the competitive audition.

 

TEACHER-STUDENT

 

Each ensemble performs one piece corresponding to the theme of the festival «We are for Peace!».

 

The composition of the ensemble members is not regulated.

 

 

 

8. Playing time of the competition program

 

• for age categories I-III-no more than 10 minutes,

 

* for age categories IV-VI-no more than 15 minutes.

The jury has the right to stop listening to the competition program of the participant who violated the time regulations.

 

 

 

9. Forms of the competition

 

The competition is held in one stage in full-time or correspondence form.

 

 

 

10. Terms of the competition

 

Correspondence competitive auditions will be held remotely from January 15 to February 15, 2020.

 

Full-time competitive auditions will be held at the Bogolyubov art Library (14

 

Suschevskaya street), Organ and Music halls of «Сenter for creative development and musical and aesthetic education of children and youth «Radost» (Mikhalkovskaya street, 22),

 

The great hall of the Moscow house of composers (Bryusov lane, 8 - 2).

 

The dates and times of the auditions will be announced at a later date.

 

The final gala concerts of the X Moscow international competition of young musicians «Magic lyre» will be held in the Great hall of the Moscow house of composers (Bryusov lane, 8-2) on March 14 and 15, 2020.

 

The start time of the gala concerts will be announced later.

 

 

 

11. Competition performance evaluation criteria

 

For performing nominations:

 

* compliance of the performed program with the requirements of the competition, age and individual characteristics of the soloist or ensemble,

 

* figurative and artistic merits of performing interpretation of the composition,

 

* the level of technical skill of the performer,

 

* originality and originality of interpretation.

 

For the nomination «Composer's creativity»:

 

* originality of musical language (melody, harmony, rhythm, form, etc.),

 

* novelty of musical thinking,

 

* unity of form and content,

 

* musicality and sincerity,

 

* qualitative selection of literary material (for vocal compositions),

 

• level of performance.

 

 

 

12. Rewarding of winners and participants of the contest

 

Evaluation of the performances of the contestants is carried out on a 10-point scale. Then the arithmetic mean is determined:

 

* 10 points - Grand Prix,

 

• from 9 to 9,9 - laureate of I degree,

 

• from 8 to 8.9-winner of the II degree,

 

• from 7 to 7,9 - laureate of III degree,

 

* from 6 to 6.9 - diploma.

 

Titles are determined in each category, category (soloist / ensemble) and age group.

 

The decision of the jury is final and not subject to appeal.


The results of the contest will be announced no later than March 10, 2020 on the website of the program « Moscow Children Sing » (http://choirsofmoscow.ru).

 

Diplomas of winners and participants will be sent by Russian Post to foreign and nonresident contestants, as well as to virtual contestants.

 

Attention! The diplomas of the winners and participants are not sent by Russian Post, e-mail or any other means to the contestants from Moscow (both full-time and virtual forms of participation). Diplomas remaining in the organizing Committee at the end of all events of the competition can be obtained in «Сenter for creative development and musical and aesthetic education of children and youth «Radost» (Mikhalkovskaya street, d. 22), by individual agreement with the project coordinators until May 31, 2020

 

 

 

 

13. Procedure and terms of submission of documents for participation in the competition

 

To participate in the competition, you must fill out an online application on the website of city complex target program of education of youth "Moscow Children Sing" (http://choirsofmoscow.ru) no later than 31 December 2019.

 

If you participate in several nominations: for each nomination you need to fill out a separate application.

 

 

Attention! Submission of an application for participation in the competition confirms the consent to the processing of personal data of participants by the organizing Committee.

 

The information specified in the application will be used in the design of diplomas. Only teachers and concertmasters specified in the application can be awarded with the gratitude of the competition. Feedback and information about the schedule of the competition events will be provided exclusively by phone and e-mail specified in the application.

 

 

Soloists-participants for publication in the booklet of the competition to the online application must be attached:

 

* color photo of the soloist (jpeg, tiff file; at least 3 MB);

 

* characteristics of the soloist with the indication of creative achievements for the period from 2017 to 2019 (Word file, the size of the text is 1000 characters with spaces). Also, in the characteristic it is necessary specify additionally the surname, name and patronymic (in full) of the teacher.

 

 

Collectives-participants for publication in the booklet of the competition to the online application must be attached:

 

* color photo of the collective (jpeg, tiff file; at least 3 MB);

 

* characteristics of the collective with the indication of creative achievements for the period from 2017 to 2019 (Word file, the size of the text is 2000 characters with spaces);

 

* color photo of the artistic Director of the collective (jpeg, tiff file; at least 3 MB);

 

* the characteristic of the artistic Director with the indication of education, creative achievements for the period from 2017 to 2019 (Word file; text volume-1000 printed characters with spaces).

 

Participants of the virtual form should also attach a link to the video of the competition performance to the online application.

 

 

The video recording must meet the following requirements:

 

* the Manager (or the participant independently) before performance of the competitive program has to present the participant, name educational institution and the executed work;

 

* the competition program must be performed in the format of a concert performance, without stops;

 

* video recording must be made without turning off and stopping the camera - from the beginning to the end of the performance of the competition program (subsequent installation is not allowed);

 

* entry must be made no earlier than September 2019.

 

The video of the contest performance must be posted on YouTube (youtube.com).

 

Videos posted on other Internet services or sent by e-mail will not be accepted for participation in the contest.

 

When uploading videos to YouTube, you must specify:

 

• In the video Title field»:

 

- country;

 

- city;

 

- name and surname of the soloist/ name of the band.

 

• In the Description field»:

 

- name of the contest: "Magic lyre-2020»,

 

- nomination,

 

- surname, name, patronymic of the teacher/ team leader.

 

Videos that do not meet these requirements will not be evaluated.

 

The leaders of the ensembles must provide a list of members of the team, which will include the following data of each participant: name (in full), surname, year of birth, age, full name of the institution, class. The list is placed in the online application.

 

Without the list, the application is invalid.

 

It is also necessary to attach a scan of the birth certificate of the participant/s and a scan of the paid receipt to the application.

 

Attention! The application should specify additional technical support required for the performance: consoles, chairs, xylophone, drum kit.

 

 

 

14. Entry fee for participation in the competition

 

Participation in the competition is free for groups and soloists studying in educational institutions subordinated to the Department of education and science of Moscow. Collectives and soloists who are trained on the basis of organizations belonging to other departments, as well as Amateurs who are not trained in any organizations, must pay an entrance fee.

 

Full-time participation paid on arrival:

 

* soloist-100 Euro,

 

* ensemble (Duo, trio) - 50 Euro from each member of the team,

 

* ensemble (from 4 to 12 participants) - 30 Euro from each member of the team.

 

Children from large families on the basis of a document confirming that the family has the right to benefit, and children with disabilities on the basis of a certificate of disability have a privilege to pay the entrance fee of 50%. The correctness of the calculation of the amount of the entrance fee for teams taking into account the benefits of participants, check with the project coordinators.

 

In case of refusal to participate in the competition, the entry fee is not refundable.

 

The entry fee is returned only in case of illness of the participant after providing a certificate or sick leave of the established sample, issued by a medical institution. The order of return of the entrance fee check with the coordinators of the project.
