MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
“MUSIC OF MY PEOPLE
AS A NATIONAL TREASURE”

1. REGULATIONS
The Moscow International Competition “The Music of My People as a National Treasure” is held as part of the Moscow International Music Festival “We are for Peace!” dedicated to the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The Moscow international competition “The music of my people as a national treasure” is intended to acquaint a wide circle of children and youth with the folk musical traditions of the Russian regions and foreign countries. In addition to folk music, an important part of the competition will be compositions whose content corresponds to the themes of the Moscow International Music Festival “We are for Peace!”, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. Among such works are works, the imagery and mood of which reflects the spirit of wartime, concerns modern aspects of the problems of war and peace, broadcasts the memory of the war, and tells about the significance of the Great Victory for the Russian and world community. Also recommended works include works devoted to other significant events of world history, days of military glory, compositions about peace, friendship, happy childhood, etc. The music’s attitude to important historical events expressed in music forms the memory of generations, which is also a national treasure of every nation.
2. The organizing committee of the competition
The founder of the competition is the Moscow Department of Education and Science.
The direct organizer of the competition is the Center for Creative Development and Musical and Aesthetic Education of Children and Youth “Radost”, the leading institution of the Russian capital in the field of musical and aesthetic education of youth, the operator of the Moscow Department of Education and Science for organizing mass creative events, operator of the Department of Education and Science of the city of Moscow for the implementation of the city’s comprehensive targeted youth education program “Moscow Children Sing.
The competition is supported by the UNESCO Chair “Musical Art and Education Throughout Life” at Moscow State Pedagogical University (Moscow State Pedagogical University).
3. Contest participants
The competition is attended by pupils of educational organizations, regardless of their status and departmental affiliation, as well as amateurs who do not study in any educational organizations - representatives of various nationalities and regions of Russia and foreign countries.
Soloists and groups with any number of participants are invited to participate in the competition.
Age categories of participants:
I: Junior age group – from 7 to 10 years.
II: Middle-aged group – from 11 to 14 years.
III: Senior age group – from 15 to 18 years.
IV: Youth age group – from 18 to 28 years.
V: from 29 years
Note: mixed groups are allowed to perform. (15% max)
4. Competition nominations
The competition is held in the following nominations:
1. Singing in the national language.
2. National dance.
3. Playing national instruments.
SINGING IN NATIONAL LANGUAGE
Competitive auditions are held in the following areas:
1. Academic singing.
2. Folk singing.
In each direction, competitive auditions are held in the following categories:
• soloists,
• vocal ensemble (2–11 participants),
• vocal and choral ensemble (12–19 participants),
• choir (from 20 participants).
At the audition, each participant (soloist or collective) performs 1 (one) work in the national language - a folk song (in the original, in processing or in arrangement) or a composition of a national composer, sustained in the traditional folk style of the region.
The duration of the competition performance is no more than 3 minutes.
The competition program is executed only with accompanist or ensemble of acoustic musical instruments. The use of phonograms (“minuses”) is not allowed.
NATIONAL DANCE
Competitive reviews are held in the following areas:
1. Folk dance.
2. Folk-stylized dance.
In each direction, competitive reviews are held in the following categories:
1. Solo dance.
2. Small choreographic ensemble (2–4 people).
3. Choreographic ensemble (from 5 people).
Each participant (soloist or collective) presents 1 (one) choreographic number for the competitive review.
The composition should include:
• national musical material;
• National costumes;
• elements of national dance choreography.
The duration of the competition performance is not more than 4.5 minutes.
PLAYING NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS
Competitive auditions are held in the following categories:
1. Solo performance.
2. Instrumental ensemble (2-12 people).
3. Orchestra (from 12 people).
At the audition, each participant (soloist or collective) performs 1 (one) work for a national instrument or ensemble (orchestra) of national instruments - folk music (in the original, in processing or in arrangement) or the composition of the national composer, sustained in the traditional folk style of the region.
The duration of the competition performance is not more than 4.5 minutes.
7. Forms of the competition
The competition is held in one stage in full-time or virtual forms.

The final gala concerts are attended by winners of nominations on a separate recommendation of the jury.
9. The jury of the competition
The performances of the contest participants are evaluated by a separate jury in each nomination. The jury board includes experts in the study of the corresponding foreign language, famous vocalists, outstanding instrumental soloists, conductors, choir artists, folk art specialists, choreographers, and dancers.
10. Criteria for evaluating competitive performance
SINGING IN NATIONAL LANGUAGE
Winners are determined by the following criteria:
• possession of vocal skills,
• artistry,
• the harmony of the musical image and stage performance,
• correspondence of the chosen repertoire to the age and vocal data of the performer.
NATIONAL DANCE
Winners are determined by the following criteria:
• the artistic level of the choreographic composition, its compliance with the requirements of the competition, age, performing, creative abilities of participants,
• level of choreography,
• level of performing and acting skills in revealing an artistic image,
• compliance with national dance traditions,
• compliance of the repertoire with the age of the performers,
• matching costumes of artistic composition,
• musical accompaniment and stage culture of the band members.
PLAYING NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS
Winners are determined by the following criteria:
• compliance of the program to the age and individual characteristics of the soloist or ensemble;
• figurative and artistic merits of the performing interpretation of the composition;
• level of technical skill of the performer;
• originality and originality of interpretation.
Each jury member evaluates the performance of the participant on a 10-point scale.
11. Awarding of winners and participants of the competition
Evaluation of the performance of the contestants is carried out on a 10-point scale. Then the arithmetic mean is determined:
• 10 points - Grand Prix,
• from 9 to 9.9 - laureate of the I degree,
• from 8 to 8.9 - laureate of the II degree,
• from 7 to 7.9 - laureate of the III degree,
• from 6 to 6.9 - student.
Ranks are defined in each nomination, direction, category and age group.
Special diplomas are provided.
The jury reserves the right to distribute not all of the listed awards.
The results of the competition in nominations will be announced on the website of the program “Children of Moscow Sing” (http://choirsofmoscow.ru) at the end of events in each nomination.
Participant diploma is made upon individual request.
Foreign and non-resident contestants, as well as correspondence-distance contestants, will receive the diplomas of the winners and participants by the Russian Post.
Attention!
Contestants from Moscow (both full-time and virtual forms of participation) diplomas of winners and participants are not sent by Russian Post, e-mail or by any other means. The diplomas remaining in the Organizing Committee upon completion of all the competition events can be obtained at the Center of Creative Development and Musical Aesthetic Education of Children and Youth “Radost” (Mikhalkovskaya St., 22) by individual agreement with the project coordinators until May 31, 2020.
12. The procedure and deadlines for submitting documents for participation in the competition
The competition is free.
To participate in the competition, you must fill out an online application :
• nomination "National dance": no later than no later than November 1, 2019;
• nomination “Playing national instruments”: not later than December 31, 2019;
• nomination "Singing in the national language": no later than February 3, 2020.
The information specified in the application will be used in the preparation of diplomas. Acknowledgments of the competition will be noted teachers and accompanists specified in the application.
Feedback and information on the competition schedule will be carried out exclusively by phone and e-mail specified in the application.
For participating collectives to publish in the competition booklet, you must attach to the online application:
• color photo of the collective (jpeg, tiff file; at least 3 MB);
• a description of the collective indicating creative achievements for the period from 2017 to 2019 (Word file; text size - 2000 printed characters with spaces);
• color photo of the artistic director of the collective (jpeg, tiff file; at least 3 MB);
• a description of the artistic director with an indication of education, creative achievements for the period from 2017 to 2019 (Word file; text size - 1000 characters with spaces).
For the soloists participating in the contest booklet, it is necessary to attach to the online application:
• color photo of the soloist (jpeg, tiff file; at least 3 MB);
• a description of the soloist indicating creative achievements for the period from 2017 to 2019 (Word file; text size - 1000 characters with spaces). Also, in the description, it is necessary to additionally indicate the surname, name and patronymic (fully) of the teacher.
Participants of the virtual form must also attach a link to the video of the competitive performance to the online application.
Video recording must meet the following requirements:
• the leader (or the participant), before performing the competitive program, must introduce the participant, name the educational institution and the work performed;
• the competition program should be performed in the format of a concert performance, without stops;
• video recording should be made without turning off and stopping the video camera - from the beginning to the end of the performing of the competitive program (subsequent editing is not allowed);
Videos posted on other Internet services, or sent by e-mail, are not accepted for participation in the competition.
When uploading videos to YouTube, you must specify:
In the "Video Title" field:
- country
- city,
- name and surname of the soloist / name of the collective.
In the Description field:
- name of the competition: “Music of my people-2020”;
- nomination;
- age of the participant / age range of the team members;
- executable program;
- surname, name, patronymic of the teacher / team leader.
Videos that do not meet these requirements will not be evaluated.
The leaders of creative collectives must provide a list of collective members, which will contain the following data for each member: name (full), last name, year of birth, age, full name of the institution, class. The list is placed in the online application. Without a list, the application is invalid.
