1. REGULATIONS

 

The Moscow international competition of academic solo singing «Dedicated to F. I. Chaliapin» is held within the framework of the Moscow international music festival «We are for Peace!», devoted the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.

 

The competition is dedicated to the outstanding Russian singer Fyodor Ivanovich Chaliapin. In the history of the world vocal and scenic art there are few names that in their popularity and importance could be compared with the name of F. I. Chaliapin. The competition is designed to promote the development of the Russian vocal school and domestic musical performance.


In 2020, the competition is also dedicated to the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 180th anniversary Of Tchaikovsky's birth.

 

 

 

 

2.  Objectives and goals:

 

* education and development of students' personality on the basis of highly artistic samples of musical art;

 

* familiarizing students of educational institutions with the best domestic performing traditions;

 

* familiarization with the work of F. I. Chaliapin, who made a huge contribution to the Treasury of world musical culture, and its popularization;

 

* identification of young talented vocalists-performers who can "sing with all the nuances and experiences" (F. I. Chaliapin);

 

* creating conditions for creative self-realization of students;

 

* popularization of solo academic singing as a kind of musical art;

 

* establishment of close creative ties between educational institutions, regardless of their departmental affiliation.

 

 

 

 

3.  The organizing Committee

 

The founder of the competition is the Moscow Department of Education and Science.

 

The direct organizer of the competition is the Center for Creative Development and Musical and Aesthetic Education of Children and Youth “Radost”, the leading institution of the Russian capital in the field of musical and aesthetic education of youth, the operator of the Moscow Department of Education and Science for organizing mass creative events, operator of the Department of Education and Science of the city of Moscow for the implementation of the city’s comprehensive targeted youth education program “Moscow Children Sing”.

 

 

 

 

4.  Participant of competition

 

The competition is attended by vocalists-students of institutions of additional education, secondary schools, institutions of culture and art, music schools, colleges and universities.


Both soloists and vocal ensembles are allowed to listen.

 

Age of participants - from 10 to 28 years.

 

Age categories of participants:

 

1. Junior (10-13 years old),

 

2. Average (14-16 years old),

 

3. Senior (17-20 years old),

 

4. Youth (21-28 years old).

 

 

 

 

5.  Forms of the competition

 

For soloists, the competition is held in two rounds (qualifying and final), for vocal ensembles - in one (final).

 

The competition is held in full-time or virtual form. The form of participation cannot be changed during the competition; the contestants-soloists of virtual form pass both rounds remotely and do not take part in the gala concert of the winners of the competition.

 

 

 

 

6.  Requirements for the competition program

 

The name of the great Russian singer F. I. Chaliapin, to whom the competition is dedicated, determines the spirit and nature of the creative competition.

 

Works by composers closest to the performing style of F. I. Chaliapin, such as M. I. Glinka, M. p. Mussorgsky, N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, should take a priority place in the competition program.

 

The performance of Tchaikovsky's works is welcomed.

 

Also, the program should include works whose content corresponds to the theme of the Moscow international music festival «We are for Peace!» dedicated to the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. Among such works are songs, the imagery and mood of which reflects the spirit of wartime, concerns modern aspects of the problems of war and peace, broadcasts the memory of the war, tells about the significance of the Great Victory for the world community. Also among the recommended - works dedicated to other significant events in world history, Days of military glory, works about peace, friendship, happy childhood, etc. All works are performed by heart.

 

Changes in the program submitted for the competition are not allowed.

 

JUNIOR AND MIDDLE AGE CATEGORIES

 

I round

 

The contestants perform two different works:

 

a) the work of Russian or foreign classics, or the Russian folk song (treatment of Russian folk song),

 

b) the work corresponding to the theme of the festival «We are for Peace!».

 

 

SENIOR AND YOUTH AGE CATEGORIES

 

I round

 

The soloists perform two different works:

 

a) the work of P. I. Tchaikovsky (the Aria or the song),

 

b) the work corresponding to the theme of the festival «We are for Peace!».

 

Round II

 

The contestants perform two different works:

 

a) Russian folk song a cappella,

 

b) the work of P. I. Tchaikovsky (the Aria or the song).

 

VOCAL ENSEMBLES participate only in the II round.

 

Ensembles perform two different works:

 

a) a work of Russian or foreign classics or a work By P. I. Tchaikovsky,

 

b) the work corresponding to the theme of the festival «We are for Peace!»

7.  Jury of competition

 

The jury consists of famous musicians-performers, teachers-musicians, prominent public figures of art and culture of Russia.

 

 

 

 

 

8.  Competition performance evaluation criteria

 

The winners are determined by the following criteria:

 

* possession of skills of academic singing (purity of intonation, diction, singing breath, etc.);

 

* musicality, artistry, artistic interpretation of the image;

 

* compliance of the repertoire with the age and individual capabilities of the performer;

 

• the artistic merit of the repertoire.

 

Evaluation of the performances of the contestants is carried out on a 10-point scale. Then the arithmetic mean is determined.

 

* 10 points - Grand Prix,

 

• from 9 to 9,9 - laureate of I degree,

 

• from 8 to 8.9-winner of the II degree,

 

• from 7 to 7,9 - laureate of III degree,

 

* from 6 to 6.9 - diploma.

 

Titles are determined in each category (soloist / ensemble) and age group.

 

Special diplomas are provided:

 

• «For the best performance of a Russian folk song»,

 

• «For the best performance of a work of classical repertoire»,

 

• «For the performance of the work of P. I. Tchaikovsky»,

 

• «For the performance of the work corresponding to the theme of the festival «We are for Peace!».

 

The jury reserves the right to distribute not all listed awards.

 

 

 

 

 

9.  Rewarding of winners and participants of the contest

 

The results of the competition will be announced on March 7, 2020 on the website of the program «Moscow Children Sing» (http://choirsofmoscow.ru).

 

The diploma of the participant is made on individual request (the wish is indicated in the online application). Award winners (including holders of special diplomas) and award of diplomas will take place at the final gala concert of the festival and the final conference.

 

March 7, 2020 in the house-Museum of F. I. Chaliapin (Novinsky Boulevard, 25).

 

Attention! The organizing Committee of the program «Moscow Children Sing» has the right not to allow participants who do not comply with the General rules of attending concerts and leaving the hall before the end of the event to participate in subsequent events. Diplomas of winners and participants will be sent by Russian Post to foreign and nonresident participants of the virtual form of participation.

 

Attention! Diplomas are not sent to contestants from Moscow by Russian Post, e-mail or any other means.

 

Diplomas remaining in the organizing Committee at the end of all the activities of the competition can be obtained in Center for creative development and musical and aesthetic education of children and youth "Radost” (Mikhalkovskaya str., 22) by individual agreement with the project coordinator until March 17, 2020.

 

 

 

 

10.  Procedure and terms of submission of documents for participation in the competition

 

To participate in the competition, you must fill out an online application on the website of The city complex target program of youth education «Moscow Children Sing» (http://choirsofmoscow.ru) no later than February 3, 2020.

 

Attention! Submission of an application for participation in the competition confirms the consent to the processing of personal data of participants by the organizing Committee.

 

The information specified in the application will be used in the design of diplomas. Only teachers and concertmasters specified in the application can be awarded with the gratitude of the competition.

 

Feedback and information about the schedule of the competition events will be provided exclusively by phone and e-mail specified in the application.

 

 

For publication in the competition booklet, the online application must be attached:

 

* color photo of soloist or ensemble (jpeg, tiff file; at least 3 MB);

 

* the characteristics of the soloist or ensemble with the indication of creative achievements for the period from 2017 to 2019 (Word file; text volume-1000 printed characters with spaces). Also in the characteristic it is necessary to specify in addition a surname, a name and a patronymic (completely) of the teacher.

 

 

Participants of the virtual form should also attach a link to the video of the competitive performances to the online application. Soloists should indicate which round (I or II) the video belongs to.

 

Videos must answer the following requirements:

 

* the Manager (or the participant independently) before performance of the competitive program has to present the participant, name educational institution and the performing work;

 

* the competition program must be performed in the format of a concert performance, without stopping;

 

* video recording must be made without turning off and stopping the camera - from the beginning to the end of the performance of the competition program (subsequent installation is not allowed);

 

* record must be made no earlier than September 2019.

 

Videos of competitive performances should be posted on YouTube video service (youtube.com).

 

Videos posted on other Internet services or sent by e-mail will not be accepted for participation in the contest.

 

When uploading videos to YouTube, you must specify:

 

* In the video Title field:

 

-country,

 

- city,

 

- name and surname of the soloist/ name of the collective.

 

 

* In the description field:

 

- name of the competition: «Dedicated to F. I. Chaliapin-2020»,

 

- round (I or II),

 

- age category,

 

- performin program,

 

- surname, name, patronymic of the teacher/ collective leader.

 

 

Videos that do not andwer these requirements will not be evaluated.

 

Attention! The leaders of the ensembles must provide a list of members of the collective, containing the following information for each participant: name (in full), surname, date of birth, age, full name of the secondary school, class. The list is placed in the online application. Without a list of participants, the application is invalid.

 

It is necessary to attach a scan of the birth certificate (passport) of the participant/s and a scan of the paid receipt to the application.

 

 

 

 

 

11.  Entry fee for participation in the competition:

 

Full-time participation paid on arrival:

 

* for soloists - 100 Euro,

 

* for ensembles (Duo, trio) - 50 Euro from each participant,

 

* for ensembles (from 4 to 12 participants) - 30 Euro per participant,

 

* for soloists of the IV category (youth) - 200 Euro,

 

* for ensembles IV categories (Duo, trio) - 100 Euro with every participant,

 

* for ensembles IV categories (from 4 until 12 participants) - 50 Euro with every stakeholder.

 

Children from large families on the basis of a document confirming that the family has the right to benefit, and children with disabilities on the basis of a certificate of disability have the privilege to pay the entrance fee in the amount of 50%. The correctness of the calculation of the amount of the entrance fee for collectives, taking into account the benefits of participants, check with the project coordinator.

 

In case of refusal to participate in the competition, the entry fee is not refundable. The entry fee is returned only in case of illness of the participant after providing a certificate or sick leave of the established sample, issued by a medical institution.

 

Please check with the project coordinator for the procedure for returning the entry fee.
